YOUR PET IS COMING FOR SURGERY. HERE ARE A FEW
SIMPLE STEPS YOU NEED TO FOLLOW TO PREPARE YOUR
PET FOR SURGERY!
- Please take up your pet’s food the night before surgery at 8 pm. No other food or snacks should be given after that time but water should be available as normal. Do not withhold water!
- If your pet is on medication, please check with the technician about dosing instructions for the morning of the surgery.
- On the morning of the surgery do not allow your pet to eat anything but do make water available. This is for your pets safety. If these instructions are not followed and your pet ingests food or snacks of any kind, we will have to reschedule the appointment.
On the day of your appointment, please arrive at 8:30 am and plan to stay for about 15-20 minutes. When you arrive, call 313-832-7283 from your car and we will meet you at the door. A technician will go over the planned surgery and associated costs, ask some medical questions, and have you sign the surgical admission paperwork.
Your pet will stay with us throughout the day. You are more than welcome to call us and see how everything is going. .
Your pet will go home with you at around 4:00 that same day. A technician will talk with you before discharge to explain everything that happened, give you complete discharge instructions and emergency numbers if needed. We will be available during normal business hours to answer any questions that you might have so please, don’t hesitate to ask!
