Surgical Best Practices for Your Pet

Our surgical center is fully equipped to provide the best possible veterinary care for your dog or cat. We follow industry best practices to ensure your pet’s safety during surgery, including:

• The use of isoflurane anesthesia
• Interoperative monitoring of vital signs during surgery
• Administration of intravenous fluids during surgery to keep your pet hydrated and ensure proper kidney function
• Preoperative surgical blood work:
  • Recommended for all surgery patients
  • Required for surgery patients ages eight and over

What You Should Know Pre and Post Surgery

Prior to your pet’s scheduled surgery, we will provide you with a list of instructions to follow to ensure your pet’s safety during the procedure. You can download the list here or we will provide it for you at our office.

We only do outpatient surgeries, so your pet will be going home with you at the end of the scheduled surgery day. Before your pet is discharged, a technician will provide you with detailed information about the surgery and give you a list of postoperative instructions customized to your pet’s specific needs, as well as emergency contact numbers should you need them.

We understand that a surgery can be a stressful time for you and your pet, and we encourage you to call us with questions during regular business hours.
